October 16, 2025 Attorneys Catherine E. September 19, 2025 Catherine E. Lenert (“Katie”), Lydia Park, and Constance Renzi (“Connie”) presented at the Annual Elder Law Short Course, for the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education (IICLE), which was held in Burr Ridge, on September 18th and 19th. Katie and Lydia joined forces and co-presented a session titled: But I Just Did What Mom Wanted Me To Do….Pursuing a Claim Against an Agent Under the Illinois Power of Attorney Act. Connie was tapped to co-present a session titled: Medicaid Planning Gone Bad-Very Bad….Now What. All three were thrilled to, once again, present at IICLE’s Annual Elder Law Short Course and appreciated having the opportunity to share their knowledge and collaborate with their fellow elder law attorneys. May 30, 2024 Attorney Constance Renzi (“Connie”) led a “break-out” session at the Illinois Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (“IL-NAELA) Spring 2024 UnProgram, which was held on May 30, 2024. During the break-out session, Connie facilitated and led her peers in a vibrant discussion regarding the advance directive for Health Care options available in Illinois, along with the related legal and drafting considerations for attorneys. April 25, 2024 Attorneys Catherine E. Lenert (“Katie”) and Constance Renzi (“Connie”) teamed up with the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley on April 25, 2024 to co-host and present an educational seminar titled: “Estate Planning 101: Protect Your Family’s Future. Katie and Connie were thrilled to, once again, team up with the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley. The seminar was held at the Oswego Public Library. November 3, 2023 Attorney Catherine E. Lenert (“Katie”) presented at the Illinois Credit Union League’s upcoming 46th Annual Attorneys’ Conference, on November 3, 2023. The topic for Katie’s session was “Long-term Care Planning.” Having been a presenter at a previous Annual Conference for the group, Katie was delighted to present, again, for the Illinois Credit Union League and to have the opportunity to educate fellow attorneys on this important topic. September 21, 2023 Attorney Constance Renzi (“Connie”) co-presented at an online program sponsored by the Illinois State Bar Association’s Disability Section Council. The program was designed for Illinois attorneys, and was titled “Medicaid, Medicare, and Long-Term Care Needs — Rights, Responsibilities, and Remedies.” The seminar provided attorneys with information needed to advise clients regarding long-term care needs, Medicare, and Medicaid for long-term nursing home care. April 27, 2023 Attorneys Catherine E. Lenert (“Katie”) and Constance Renzi (“Connie”) joined forces with the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley and co-presented a complimentary estate planning seminar. The seminar was designed to help educate attendees as to the basics of estate planning. April 18, 2023 Attorney Constance Renzi (“Connie”) co-presented a session at the Illinois State Bar Association’s Elder Law Section Council’s Annual Seminar Series. The program was designed for Illinois attorneys, and was titled “The Illinois Practitioner Order for Life-Sustaining Treatment Form and Its Purpose: A Primer for Attorneys.” The seminar provided attorneys with a comprehensive overview of the Illinois Practitioner Order for Life Sustaining Treatment (“POLST”) form. In addition the seminar addressed how attorneys might incorporate a discussion regarding the POLST form, with clients, when talking about health care advance directive options. September 27, 2022 Attorney Catherine E. Lenert (“Katie”) presented a session at the National Business Institute’s course, “Medicaid Planning: The Completer Toolkit for Attorneys” in a live video webinar format. Although this was a legal course designed with attorneys in mind, accountants, estate and financial planners, nursing home administrators, investment advisers, continued care managers, and paralegals who attended also benefited from this informative and educational program. April 13, 2022 Attorneys Catherine E. Lenert and Constance Renzi co-presented a session at the Illinois State Bar Association’s Annual Elder Law Boot Camp. The program was designed for Illinois attorneys, and was titled “Drafting Powers of Attorney 101.” In addition to educating their colleagues as to the important role these legal documents play in life care planning, Katie and Connie also emphasized the importance of understanding that POAs are not fill in the blank forms. Additionally, the session included practical tips for drafting customized POAs for clients, which take into consideration a client’s particular needs, wishes, and circumstances. October 29 – 30, 2020 Both Catherine E. Lenert and Connie Renzi participated as a presenter and a moderator, respectively, at the 16th Annual Elder Law Short Course presented by the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education (IICLE). November 22, 2019 Both Catherine E. Lenert and Connie Renzi presented at the 15th Annual Elder Law Short Course presented by the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education (IICLE). The course was a two-day conference. Katie co-presented on the topic of Litigating Nursing Home Abuse Cases: What Every Elder Law Attorney Needs to Know. Connie presented to attorneys new to the practice of elder law, and provided providing both “practical tips” and information on the Medicaid eligibility rules for long-term care. Steven A. Andersson co-authored with Jennifer Weiss-Wolf an Opinion/Editorial titled, “REPUBLICAN OR DEMOCRAT–WE CAN ALL AGREE ON AXING THE TAMPON TAX” which Newsweek published on April 15, 2019.
April 2019 October 24, 2019 Catherine E. Lenert presented at the National Business Institute’s (NBI’s) Medicaid Planning Seminar, held in Naperville, Illinois. Katie presented on the Medicaid application process, appeals, and post-eligibility issues.
