In representing school districts, we
provide the knowledge necessary to effectuate the plans and policies school
administration and school boards alike seek to implement. We have extensive
experience in managing staff-administration interaction, student
disciplinary hearings, finance and bond issues, construction contracts and
new school development, district and school boundary disputes, and in
ensuring compliance with the ever changing state and federal requirements
imposed on school districts.
In particular, our firm has been on the leading edge of the No Child Left
Behind Act, helping districts understand and implement its programs where
necessary, and bringing one of the first appeals to the Illinois State Board
of Education. In so doing, Mickey Wilson helped to create and define the
very appeals process on which so many districts are now relying.
Attorneys from the firm are current or past presidents of statewide
associations of school attorneys, and participate in drafting and revising
the guidance documents upon which other school attorneys rely. In Illinois,
with the status of state education and administrative agencies in a near
constant flux, the importance to school boards of retaining talented school
attorneys cannot be understated; Mickey Wilson recognizes this need, and
serves it with experience combined with up to the minute tracking of newly
developing trends.
We serve as General Counsel for West Aurora School District No. 129,
Yorkville Community School District No. 115, Sandwich Community School
District No. 430, and Salt Creek Elementary School District No. 48. In
addition, we serve as Special Counsel for Riverview Community Consolidated
School District No. 2, Batavia School District No. 101, and Lockport
Township School District. Our Attorneys provide responsiveness, local
awareness, statewide prominence, knowledge and efficiency to ensure that the
needs of each school district we serve are identified and met.
